Payment options

Credit card payments are preferred. However, e-transfers are also accepted. Cash or cheques are no longer accepted.

Insurance coverage

Fees are standardized according to the College of Social Work, and most employers cover the services of a Registered Social Worker. If a client is unable to pay the fee, discounted options can be discussed prior to the start of services.

Cancellation policy

24 hours notice is required for cancellations unless rescheduling is due to a life crisis or medical emergency. For frequent cancellations, fees will be charged for missed sessions.

Confidentiality

All information is kept confidential as per HIPAA requirements. However, the following circumstances mandate me to breach confidentiality according to law.

  • When a client is in imminent danger to self or others

  • If a child under 18 years is at risk of physical, sexual, or emotional harm

  • If your client file becomes subpoena in court

  • Sexual misconduct between a regulated health professional and client

No information will be divulged to any other party, including schools, parents, family, or friends, without written or expressed verbal consent from a teen.

The age of consent is 12 years. However, if a child understands the limitation of confidentiality as stated above, they can proceed with consent at a younger age.

All children and teens are encouraged to share information with parents. It is strongly advised that the initial session include the parent before children and teens start counselling.

In cases of separation or divorce, both parents must agree unless the child can consent for themselves.  Exceptions are made if one parent has full custody and all rights to consent without the other parent’s involvement.  In such cases, both parents will be encouraged to participate in the child's therapy if the child consents.
